Naturally all schools vary in size and requirements for school workshops and I am very flexible regarding the planning of events. However, most usually I work with Reception (4-5 years old) for 50 minutes to an hour and for an hour plus with each of KS1 (5-7 years old), Lower KS2 (7-9 years old) and Upper KS2 (9-11 years old). I qualified as a junior school teacher in 1988 and my teaching experience helps me ensure that my workshops are aimed at supporting the curriculum teaching going on in schools.
My daily fee for schools is based on the Society of Authors recommended fee of £350 in the UK and €480 in the Euro Zone, plus reasonable expenses agreed beforehand based on payment on the day of the workshop. (I am however, prepared to haggle if cost is the only obstacle preventing a booking! The haggling fee for the “warriors” starts at £480!)
I have a DBS (which replaced CRB) dated 4 February 2014 and have full PLI. I am a member of The Society of Authors and NAWE (National Association of Writers in Education).
